As we have successfully navigated the first half of the 2016-17 school year in the Cuyahoga Falls City School District, we are excited to push forward to fulfill our mission and vision!  In approaching our work this year, it is vital that we continue to celebrate our accomplishments and persist in our strategizing to tackle our challenges.  In doing so, we must have a collective effort that will allow us to move forward…TOGETHER.  Ours is a strong community with many interests.  Within those interests, we can all work collaboratively to foster the absolute best possible environment for our students to promote their ability to achieve and to compete globally.  In July, we were honored to have been recognized by District Administration magazine as a District of Distinction for our efforts to personalize learning for our students.  That award is a tribute to all of our teachers, administrators, staff, students, business partners, and community members. Also, in November, both of our middle schools were also presented with the Momentum Award by the Ohio Board of Education for exceeding expectations in student growth for the year. We thank you infinitely for the dedication and diligence displayed daily that allow this great work to be done.

From an instructional improvement aspect, this year, we will discuss having an emphasis on the use of feedback and the strategic deployment of assessment to inform our decisions.  We want our students to embrace the ability to take risks, to make mistakes, and to learn from those mistakes.  To do so, we, as adults, must also embrace those tenets.  We will grow and thrive by escaping our own comfort zones and attempting to do things with the clear purpose of improvement in all aspects.  It has often been said that “failure is not an option.”  On the contrary, I would argue that failure is an option so long as we learn from those failures and use them to drive us toward new and greater heights of attainment and achievement. We look to move to even greater heights in 2016-17 and I am confident of our ability to reach as far as we desire to go.

“Look at the world around you.  It may seem like an immovable implacable place.  It is not.  With the slightest push—in just the right place—it can be tipped.” –Malcolm Gladwell

Keep pushing and keep growing.  Our potential is unlimited.  Together, we can truly seize our mission, “Every Day, Every Student, Every Opportunity!
