Black Tiger Families,
We are happy to announce that we have partnered with Akron Children’s Hospital to provide a voluntary vaccination clinic for all students ages 5 to 17. The clinic will be held on Thursday, Dec. 2, from 3-7 p.m. at Dewitt Elementary School. A second clinic will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 4, from 3-7 p.m., to administer the second dose.
All parents are required to complete a consent form for each student receiving a vaccine. The form should be returned to the school clinic by 3 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 29, to ensure an appointment will be available for your student.
Vaccination Clinic Times
To assist in managing the number of parents and students in attendance, we encourage families to attend the clinic during the times designated below:
- Students with last names beginning with A – L arrive between 3 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.
- Students with last names beginning with J – R arrive between 4:30 p.m. – 5:45 p.m.
- Students with last names beginning with S –Z arrive between 5:45 p.m. – 7 p.m.
- Last walk-in appointment: 6:45 p.m.
Early Release Schedule
The day of the clinic, students must be accompanied by a parent or guardian in order to receive their vaccination. Cuyahoga Falls City School District students will be released one hour early on Thursday, Dec. 2, and Tuesday, Jan. 4 to accommodate our families who will be driving to the clinic and alleviate traffic and parking conditions at DeWitt. This schedule will be the same as the schedule we use on Early Release Friday (ERF).
Eligibility and Vaccine Information
Children that live in Cuyahoga Falls, but do not attend Cuyahoga Falls City Schools, are also eligible for vaccination during this time as long as a consent form has been returned to any CFCSD school building. Only a limited number of walk-in appointments will be accepted on the day of clinic. Adult vaccine boosters will not be available during this time.
The Pfizer vaccine will be the only shot administered during the clinic, as it is the only COVID-19 vaccine authorized for emergency use in children ages 5-15 years old and fully FDA approved for people ages 16 years and older. A fact sheet provided by Pfizer-BioNTech is available here and additional vaccine information can be found via the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website.
Details and safety procedures for the clinic are available from Akron Children’s Hospital Letter to Families sent to parents and guardians by their building principals.
We strongly encourage all eligible students to take part in the clinic with their parents’ or guardians’ permission.
Please plan to park in the lot behind Dewitt Elementary accessible from both 4th and 5th Street. Upon arrival, families should enter through the main entrance. Those in the first group (last names beginning with A-I) should plan for additional travel time to navigate Dewitt dismissal traffic.
