Dear Black Tiger families, this is Dr. Nichols.
As we head into the weekend, I wanted to thank you for the phenomenal response we’ve received to the survey we sent out last week. Your input, along with other information, will be evaluated over the next few days as we determine the next steps towards our return to school. Thank you for taking the time to respond to us.
I have a few things I want to share with you. First, I want to remind you that, beginning Monday, our middle and high school will move towards a more aligned afternoon schedule. This was outlined in the communications we sent out earlier in the week.
Second, please note that, beginning Monday, our district will move from our current PayForIt secure online platform to a new and improved portal called PaySchools Central. You can use PaySchools Central to pay student fees, access the free and reduced lunch application, and – in the future – pay for lunches when the free meal plan expires. Please take the time to log onto PaySchools Central and establish your new account.
Third, I wanted to share some Black Tiger Pride with you. Paula Arriaga, a bus driver and On-Board Instructor (OBI) in our district, was selected as the Akron Beacon Journal’s Make the Grade “Difference Maker” for the month of October. Paula will be featured in the paper on October 27th. We are very proud of Paula – a shining example of one of the many exceptional team members we have within our district.
Finally, please remember that all of our students will attend classes online on Election Day, which is Tuesday, November 3rd. There are many national and local issues on the ballot, including Issue 36, a renewal levy for our district which generates almost 10% of our annual general revenue fund. Thank you for exercising your right to vote on, or before, this date.
In the meantime, please continue to practice healthy habits, such as masks, hand sanitizer, and social distancing, to help maximize the chance that we can return in November.
Until next time be well, stay safe and as always Go Black Tigers!
