You're Invited: State of YOUR Schools Community Event

Cuyahoga Falls City School District is inviting families, residents, alumni, and community members to experience the district firsthand during its State of YOUR Schools event on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, at the CF 6–12 Campus, 2630 13th St.

The evening will begin at 6 with an open house-style experience offering visitors an opportunity to explore several spaces throughout the campus. Guests can visit the Hydroponics Lab and Planetarium, create a takeaway gift in the Makerspace, view student artwork in the Art Gallery, enjoy refreshments, and listen to the Gold Tones Jazz Combo.

At 7 p.m., the evening will move to the Performing Arts Center auditorium for student performances. At 7:15 p.m., Superintendent Dr. Andrea Celico will present the State of the Schools, providing families and community members with an opportunity to learn more about the progress of the district.

“State of YOUR Schools is an opportunity to open our doors and invite our community to see our schools in action,” said Dr. Celico. “We want our families and residents to experience the learning spaces, talents and opportunities available to our students and to learn more about the work taking place throughout our district.”

The event is designed around three experiences—Explore, Enjoy, and Engage—giving attendees an opportunity to explore the campus, enjoy student performances, and engage with district leadership. Guests are welcome to experience the evening in whatever way works best for their schedule—stop by for a visit, stay for the entire event, or choose the activities and experiences that interest them most.

The State of YOUR Schools event is free and open to the community.

Cuyahoga Falls High School Hosts Youth Hope Initiative Featuring Kevin Love
Kevin Love addresses audience.

Cuyahoga Falls High School welcomed students and educators from across the region to the Cuyahoga Falls 6–12 Campus on September 22 for the 2026 Youth Hope Initiative, a morning dedicated to student mental health, wellness, and hope. This event was created by the Alliance for Healthy Youth to support youth in Summit County.

The event brought together students from Cuyahoga Falls, Copley, Revere, Green, Springfield, Nordonia, Woodridge, Akron, and Stow-Munroe Falls for programming designed to empower young people, affirm their value and prioritize their health, wellness, and future.

A highlight of the event was a fireside chat with former Cleveland Cavaliers player Kevin Love, who shared his personal experiences with mental health and spoke with students about the importance of seeking support, building resilience, and reducing the stigma surrounding mental health conversations.

Love, a five-time NBA All-Star and NBA Champion, has become a nationally recognized mental health advocate. Through the Kevin Love Fund, he has worked to normalize conversations surrounding mental health and provide young people with tools and resources to support their emotional well-being.

The Youth Hope Initiative also featured student and youth speakers, school representatives, and community organizations committed to supporting young people. The program included representatives from Akron Children’s Hospital, Child Guidance & Family Solutions, Coleman Health Services, Greenleaf Family Center, Minority Behavioral Health Group, OhioGuidestone, Red Oak Behavioral Health, Shelter Care and Portage Path Behavioral Health, among others.

Hosting the regional event provided Cuyahoga Falls High School students with an opportunity to join their peers from neighboring school districts in an important conversation about mental health and the role young people can play in creating supportive school communities.

“Events like the Youth Hope Initiative reinforce an important message for our students: they are not alone,” said Cuyahoga Falls City School District Superintendent Dr. Andrea Celico. “When we give young people opportunities to talk openly about mental health, connect with one another, and hear from people willing to share their own experiences, we help create a culture where asking for help is a sign of strength. We were honored to welcome students from across the region to Cuyahoga Falls for this important conversation.”

CFCSD Teachers Awarded More Than $177,000 in Grants to Support Student Learning

Cuyahoga Falls City School District educators have secured more than $177,000 in grant funding to support innovative classroom projects, expand student opportunities, and provide resources that align with Ohio’s Learning Standards.

Through the generosity of community partners and educational foundations, teachers across the district will be able to enhance learning experiences, strengthen student engagement, and create new opportunities that support academic achievement and the goals outlined in the district’s Strategic Plan.

The Cuyahoga Falls High School Fresh Farm Garden program received a transformative $100,000 grant from the American Endowment Foundation to support its expansion.

The American Endowment Foundation grant supports programs that help address childhood food insecurity in Northeast Ohio. Funding will allow the Fresh Farm Garden program to significantly expand its capacity by constructing a high tunnel, enabling students and staff to extend the growing season and provide more fresh vegetables to students and families in need.

Additional grant-funded improvements will include the purchase of hydroponic growing systems, a vermicomposting system, and a variety of tools, materials, and supplies to increase the program’s growing capacity and create expanded hands-on learning opportunities for students.

In addition, the GAR Foundation awarded $52,980 to six projects across the district:

  • Cuyahoga Falls High School: Project Respawn — $8,970

  • Cuyahoga Falls Middle School & High School: Making It Happen—Engagement through Maker-Centered Learning — $10,000

  • Elizabeth Price Elementary School: EdVentures in Music Therapy — $5,000

  • Gordon DeWitt Elementary School: DeWitt Lego Learning Lab — $9,640

  • Richardson Elementary School: If You Give a Kid a Ball! — $10,000

  • Richardson Elementary School: Our Stories, Our Voices — $9,370

These projects will provide students with hands-on learning experiences, opportunities for creativity and collaboration, enhanced social-emotional learning supports, and innovative instructional approaches that engage students in meaningful ways.

The Cuyahoga Falls Schools Foundation & Alumni Association also awarded $24,250 in grants to 24 teacher teams throughout the district. These grants will provide educators with funding for classroom resources and instructional materials designed to enrich learning and support student success.

“These grants are an investment in our students and the innovative learning experiences that help them grow academically, socially, and personally,” said Dr. Andrea Celico, Superintendent of Cuyahoga Falls City School District. “We are grateful to the American Endowment Foundation, the GAR Foundation, and the Cuyahoga Falls Schools Foundation & Alumni Association for their partnership and generosity. Their support allows our teachers to bring creative ideas to life and provide meaningful opportunities that directly benefit our students.”

CFCSD Preschool Earns Gold Rating in Step Up To Quality System

Cuyahoga Falls City School District is proud to announce that its preschool program has earned a Gold rating through Ohio’s Step Up To Quality (SUTQ) rating system.

Step Up To Quality is a three-level quality rating and improvement system that recognizes and promotes early care and education programs that exceed Ohio’s minimum health and safety licensing requirements. Achieving a Gold rating reflects the district’s strong commitment to delivering high-quality early learning experiences for young children.

This marks the first year the district has operated its preschool program, which provides inclusive, high-quality early education for both students with special needs and their peer role models. The program emphasizes a strong developmental foundation, preparing students for success as they transition into kindergarten.

This accomplishment was made possible through the collaborative efforts of the district’s Department of Teaching and Learning, Special Education Department, and dedicated preschool staff, all of whom worked together to establish a program grounded in excellence.

Superintendent Andrea Celico praised the collective effort behind the recognition. “I am incredibly proud of the collaborative work across our departments to ensure our youngest learners receive the best possible education and a strong foundation for kindergarten.  I am also grateful to the preschool team who work extremely hard to meet the needs of our youngest learners,” she said.

The Gold rating highlights Cuyahoga Falls City School District’s ongoing commitment to early childhood education and its focus on creating supportive, high-quality learning environments for every student.
