Black Tiger Family Center to Open in September, Offering Essential Supplies to Families in Need

[Cuyahoga Falls, OH] — Cuyahoga Falls City School District is pleased to announce the creation of the Black Tiger Family Center. This vital community resource will provide essential supplies to families in need beginning the 2024-25 school year.

The Black Tiger Family Center is dedicated to supporting families' well-being by ensuring they have access to necessary everyday items. The Center aims to foster a stronger, healthier, and more resilient community by alleviating the burden of obtaining new clothing, hygiene products, household supplies, and school supplies.

"We are thrilled to open our doors and begin serving the families in our school district," said Holly Merkle, Coordinator of Wellness and Success. "Part of our District vision is a ‘culture of caring.’ Our mission is to make a positive impact on the lives of those who need it most, and we are committed to providing a welcoming and supportive environment for all."

To help prepare for the Center’s opening, the District is hosting a supply drive from July 27 through August 11.  The Center is seeking donations of hygiene items, cleaning and household supplies, and new clothing or gift cards for the purchase of new clothing and shoes. Donations can be delivered to the following locations: Cuyahoga Falls Library, Riverfront YMCA, Western Reserve Hospital, and Young’s Screenprinting. Cash donations are also appreciated. Checks can be mailed to the Board of Education Office, 405 Tallmadge Rd., Suite 2201, Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221, Attn: Treasurer’s Department with “Black Tiger Family Center” in the memo line. Online donations can also be made by clicking on this link.

The school supply lists are available by clicking on these links:
The high school does not have a supply list, however, basic supplies such as pens, pencils, notebooks, and pocket folders are helpful.

The Black Tiger Family Center will be located in the Schnee Learning Center, 2222 Issaquah St., Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony scheduled for Tuesday, September 24 at 6 p.m. The community is invited to tour the Center and celebrate this new resource.
