Hello Families,
My name is Emily Smith and I am the School Counselor at Preston Elementary and Price Elementary. I earned my B.A. in Child and Family Development from The University of Akron. From there, I went on to Kent State University where I earned my M.Ed in School Counseling.
I am going into my 10th year as a school counselor. The first five years of my career were in Southeastern Ohio. I then moved back, “home” and worked for four years in Mantua. I have just completed my first year in Cuyahoga Falls and am so grateful to be part of this community.
Please feel free to contact me if I can help support you and your child in any way.
Why Elementary School Counselors?
"The elementary school years set the foundation for developing the knowledge, attitudes and skills necessary for children to become healthy, competent and confident learners. Elementary school counselors have an impact on these years by implementing a school counseling program and collaborating with school staff, parents and the community to create a safe and respectful learning environment. By providing education, prevention, early identification and intervention, elementary school counselors help their students achieve academic success, develop an understanding of career opportunities and develop social/ emotional skills in response to issues they face.” (American School Counselor Association)
