Hello, my name is Ms. Joslin and I am the school counselor at both Richardson Elementary and Silver Lake Elementary. This is my 24th year in the school district, and my 17th year working as a school counselor. I previously taught as an Intervention Specialist at Preston Elementary.
I received my Bachelor's of Science degree as an intervention specialist from the University of Akron, and continued on to earn my Master's of Education in the area of school counseling.
Why Elementary School Counselors?
Elementary school years set the tone for developing the knowledge, attitudes and skills necessary for children to become healthy, competent and confident learners. Through a comprehensive developmental school counseling program, school counselors work as a team with the school staff, parents and the community to create a caring climate and atmosphere. By providing education, prevention, early identification and intervention, school counselors can help all children achieve academic success. The professional elementary school counselor holds a master’s degree and required state certification in school counseling. -Taken from the American School Counseling Association
A comprehensive school counseling program is designed to reach all students through classroom guidance lessons, small groups, and/or individual counseling sessions.
