While Summertime signals the end of another school year, it also ushers in time to spend with family and friends to enjoy fun and relaxation.  What an incredible year we had this past school year.  We kicked off the year getting to celebrate earning 4.5 stars on the Ohio State Report Card, continued growing in our learning as students and growing as educators as well with our Standards Clarity work.  

     As a building, we collected over 1300 items that we donated to Good Neighbors as well as Falls Creek Community Church food pantries through our Student Council Food Drive and participation in the CFHS Pack the Pantry competition where we helped the High School to raise more than Tallmadge High School.  We celebrated the Arts in our "Here Comes the Sun" Fine Arts Fest as well as the All-City Art Walk and the Art Sparks Program.  We ended the year with an annual favorite, Silver Lake Field Day and had perfect weather for that and a new event we tried in our Color-A-Thon.  Throughout the year, each grade level participated in our Attendance Challenge where each month, the grade level with the highest percentage of attendance was awarded with some extra recess.  Next year we will look to build off of this success with even more work within attendance as we know students growth in school depends first on their being here.    

     Our Home and School League brought the fun with many events such as the Trunk-or-Treat, Valentine's Dance Family Event, two successful book fairs, Staff Appreciation and 5th grade Recognition to name a few.  We are so thankful for the work and dedication of this group.  I encourage all families to look into how they can be a part of the Home and School League moving forward to make SLE even greater!

     Wishing a special farewell to our 5th graders as they embark on their Middle School journey as well as to our very own Mrs. Beck in her retirement.
